Doug Peck, Food Packaging Solutions
We go up and down the aisles at the grocery store buying our coffee, condiments, and beverages. We know what’s in the products we’re buying but what about the packaging? Doug Peck will share more about the dangerous chemicals found in food packaging and a solution to help!
Doug grew up on a Christmas tree farm near State College. He received his undergraduate degree at Lock Haven University and a graduate degree at Penn State University.
Doug became a Manager of Plastic Packaging for the H. J. Heinz Company in Pittsburgh where he was responsible for development of the Heinz plastic squeeze ketchup bottle. He left Heinz to become a Director of Package Engineering for ConAgra Foods.
Doug taught Package Engineering at Penn State main campus for 20 years. He recently finished writing a textbook in Package Engineering and is now working on materials to replace plastic food packaging.

Happy birthday to us! February 17 marked 87 years of service to the West Shore community! That's a whole lotta giving back to this community that we call home.
