Happy Monday, Rotarians! We have not one, but TWO, guest speakers on tap for Thursday's meeting. This means that we will keep administrative matters to a minimum so that our guests have plenty of time to share.

Please make every effort to attend this meeting, particularly since our District Governor will be visiting. Thank you!

Fred J. Gellert, District Governor 2023-2024, Rotary District 7390

Fred hails from Detroit Michigan and served 30 years as a US Army officer. He now resides in Middlesex Township (Carlisle area) and serves
as the Professor of Science and Technology at the US Army War College
where he teaches and researches on topics of leadership, management, technology, and Asia-Pacific regional issues.

Fred’s Rotary journey began through his mother Judy Garver who was a District Governor in D6380 in Southeastern Michigan. He joined Rotary in September 2012 and is a member of the Carlisle Sunrise club. In the club, he served as the membership chairman and as the club president (2018-2019). At the district level, he has served as the Area Membership Chair and later the Assistant Governor for Group A. He is a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute (2017) and has attended Zone and International conventions. He is a member of the Paul Harris Society, the Polio Plus Society, and is a Major Donor.

Fred holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Wayne State University, a Master’s Degree in Astrophysics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. He has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching and Excellence
in Service awards by the U.S. Army War College. He was awarded the Army's Pace Leadership Award by the Secretary of the Army in 2005.

Fred and his wife Donna have been married for 36 years. They have two adult sons, the oldest is an Army veteran and now in nursing and the youngest is in the biology research field. Fred is involved in Boy Scouts as a troop scoutmaster and teaches firearm safety courses in the local
community. He is an avid skeet shooter and enjoys woodworking as hobbies.

Ann Moffitt, ACFRE, Director of Development, West Shore Theatre

Ann Moffitt is well-known in the Harrisburg area as someone to turn to when you need money. As an advanced certified fundraising executive, she has helped countless organizations, including the PA Family Support Alliance, Keystone Human Services, Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA, and the Byrnes Health Education Center with fundraising efforts. Currently, she is the Director of Development at West Shore Theatre.

Ann has served - and continues to serve - in multiple capacities in the non-profit sector. Her leadership positions include both staff and governance roles with the United Way of the Capital Region, Leave a Legacy York County, Diversity and Inclusion Professionals of Central PA, and YWCA Greater Harrisburg.

Ann is a graduate of Spring Grove Area High School. She studied public administration at Penn State Harrisburg as well as Behavior Sciences at York College of PA.

She currently resides in New Cumberland which is also home to the West Shore Theatre.

In Case You Missed It

The RCWS went home with a bit of swag following the Foundation Dinner on Saturday, November 4.

Our little club received recognition for 100% giving to the Foundation, Every Rotarian Every Year, and after a few-year hiatus, we recaptured the Best Club Award for the extra-small club category.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... if you showed up to a meeting, volunteered at an event, gave money to the Foundation, joined a Rotary Fellowship, found a flag sponsor, helped pack or deliver care kits, attended a district event (you get the idea)... THANK YOU for helping to make 2022-2023 a great Rotary year!
